How to Prepare for a Commercial Cleaning Walkthrough

A walkthrough is most useful when it produces a specific scope instead of a vague promise. A few details prepared in advance can make the estimate clearer.

Gather the basics

Estimate the square footage, count restrooms, list floor types, identify break rooms or shared areas, and note the number of occupants or typical visitor traffic.

Show the current trouble spots

Point out recurring buildup, high-touch areas, carpet concerns, storage limitations, or rooms that need different levels of attention.

Discuss access and timing

Explain building access, alarms, locked rooms, parking, and the time of day that would reduce disruption. Scheduling is confirmed based on current availability.

Ask for a written scope

A clear plan should identify the main tasks, frequency, areas included, and special priorities. Use the printable checklist below so important details are not missed.
